Back in the olden days before the internet, design trends seemed to spring from the collective unconscious. The path from fashion to art to industrial design to interiors and architecture was a much longer one for designs than the instantaneous trend cycle we experience today.
One morning not long ago, the sun was casting cool shadows on St. Mary’s Cathedral, which was built in 1971 here in San Francisco.
It reminded me of patterns in textiles from the same era.
